Colorado MediGap Plans

Are you looking for information on Colorado Medicare Supplemental Insurance Plans?

If so, you’ve come to the right place. Medicare supplements are also known as Medigap plans.

Whether you call them Colorado Medigap plans, Denver Medigap plans, or something else, they are standardized insurance plans that are regulated by the government and not the insurance companies.

What does a standardized plan mean? When you purchase a particular Medicare Supplement Plan, like Medigap Plan F, it will provide you the same exact coverage no matter which company you choose.

That’s right. Your Medicare coverage is the same no matter the company. It’s the same if it’s Blue Cross Blue Shield, Mutual of Omaha, Equitable, AARP or any other Medigap company. It’s the LAW!

How Colorado Medigap Works

Here is an easy way to understand how standardized Medigap plans work.

The Medigap letters (Plan F for example) are standardized. It’s like buying gasoline.

You can buy Premium gasoline. Premium gasoline may have different prices from multiple gas stations in your town. But, you buy the least expensive gas because it’s the same from station to station.

This is how Medigap works.

If you want to purchase a Plan F, shop your Plan F with all the companies in your Zip Code. If you are shopping for Plan G, shop all Plan G plans in your Zip Code.

Colorado Medigap Benefits

Plan F benefits are the exact same no matter what company you choose.  This applies to all Medigap plan letters.  You do not get better benefits by selecting a big or small Medigap insurance company.

Price comparison shopping is important. You must make sure that you are not spending more than you have to. Plans with the same letter have the exact same Colorado Medicare Supplement Insurance Coverage.

Here is a Plan letter comparison.  Please take a moment and compare benefits.  We are often asked if Medigap Plan F, Plan G or Plan N is better and which is the best value.

* Plan F also offers a high-deductible plan. If you choose this option, this means you must pay for Medicare-covered costs up to the deductible amount of $2,200 in 2017 before your Medigap plan pays anything.

** After you meet your out-of-pocket yearly limit and your yearly Part B deductible, the Medigap plan pays 100% of covered services for the rest of the calendar year.

*** Plan N pays 100% of the Part B coinsurance, except for a copayment of up to $20 for some office visits and up to a $50 copayment for emergency room visits that don’t result in inpatient admission. Source: www.medicare.gov
